Description

The on-screen displays in MMP: Minimalist Media Player are designed to be subtle and unobtrusive so as to give full focus to the media content.
This includes all the captions (top and bottom of the window) and the audio/video progress bar along the bottom edge.

When watching movies, the “fully immersive” aspect of MMP can be enhanced by turning off everything in the video window except the movie itself*.

You can turn off the video timestamp using [C] (for [C]aptions) and you can hide/[B]lankout the video progress [B]ar with [B].
Your choice will be remembered from audio/video file to audio/video file but not between launches of MMP.

* Do you really need to know that you're 34 minutes and 19 seconds into a 2-hour thriller!?

However…there are also times when you're using MMP as a general-purpose, everyday, media player when you might prefer the controls to be brighter than their default settings, particularly in certain lighting conditions or depending on your particular eyesight needs.

Consequently, you can brighten all the captions and the progress bar from their default setting up to full, bright white using Ctrl [B].

You can also make them all darker again by pressing Shift [B], or Ctrl Shift [B] to reset them to their default setting.

Your current caption brightness settings are saved to MinimalistMediaPlayer.conf and will remain set until you change them.

Ctrl [B] and Shift [B] can be held down for rapid change.

Media File Metadata

You can view a summary of the media file's encoding characteristics by pressing Ctrl [C].

Some examples of what may be shown in the bottom left-hand corner of the main MMP window:

In brief, these are showing:

XY: the X / Y (width and height) dimensions of the encoded video (not the displayed width and height in the MMP window)
AR: Aspect Ratio (not shown above). Shows the encoded display dimensions of a video, as opposed to the stored dimensions
FR: Frame Rate
BR: Bit Rate
AR: Audio Rate
VR: Video Rate
SM: Stereo / Mono. This is a free-text field which could actually contain anything decided by the person who encoded the video
FS: the File Size on disk

Depending on the media file, some of these details might not be available.
